Details

Glue trap with pheromone is a cheap and simple trap designed to eliminate and monitor horse-chestnut leaf miner or other flying pests, for example warehouse moth and Indian mealmoth, clothes moths, fruit flies, pests of fruit trees like: codling moth and laspeyresia funebrana.

The trap is designed for hanging in the bottom part of the crown of a tree with a string enclosed to the set. The trap can be applied from the second part of April, and the best time to do it is the moment of the tree vegetation. Traps should be hanging on the tree till the end of the autumn. Checking on traps enables determination of the first flight of horse-chestnut leaf miner and helps to take the decision about eventual application of flypapers on the tree or spraying the tree with pyrethroid substance.

Traps shell be placed in the lower part of the tree crown or on its lower branches. One should use 1-3 traps for each tree, depending on the size of the crown.

After removing the paper, on the adhesive layer one should apply the pheromone enclosed in the set in the middle of the bottom part. Form the trap into the cone shape. Hang the trap in the lower part of the crown with a string. One should change the pheromone regularly which in natural conditions works between 4 to 6 weeks.

The time is sufficient to eliminate 1 generation of horse-chestnut leaf miner.

I pheromone application from the 18th April till the 31st of May
Second application shell be done from the second half of June till the end of July.
II pheromone application from the 18th of June till the 31 of July
The third application should be done from the first half of August till the second half of September.
III pheromone application, from the 10th of June till the 24 of September
In the wormer parts of Europe and in some parts of Poland there is sometimes fourth, October generation, which spends the winter in cocoons in the state of diapause.
IV pheromone application (rare cases) if there is a warm sunny summer and autumn.
